Local photographer Andrew Holland and some intrepid volunteers have just contributed £1,000 to our work at the Nature Reserve. Inspired by the W.I’s Calendar Girls, Andrew came up with the idea of producing a similar calendar using some of the best-known locations around the town, including the nature reserve. The models were not only faced with shedding their clothes in a public place, they also put up with some very early starts so as not to cause motorists to swerve off the road or cyclists to fall in the canal when they spotted a group of people wearing nothing but a smile. The calendar proved a big hit. With the help of local outlets and his own untiring efforts, Andrew sold out and generously shared the profits between Carers’ Resources and Hirst Wood Regeneration Group. Our thanks go out to all the brave volunteers, sales outlets, sponsors and especially Andrew. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
